Week In Review

When I called Bobbi and Fred in early February to ask them to come visit us again this month, the whole point was so they could be available to help me with the kiddos while Danny catapulted himself into schoolwork. The side effect of Danny burying himself in presentations, papers, and research is that the laptop has been going with him every day and night, and I haven't been able to blog as regularly as I prefer.

Have no fear, however; I have kept up with the picture-taking and you won't miss a thing!

We started this past week with Temper Tantrum Training Camp. It was enough to send this Mommy to the circus. I couldn't believe how ornery my little man was. And, on Monday, he didn't even take a minute of a nap even though I left him to it for about three hours.

When I finally threw in the towel and went to get him up (with the expectation of a very early bedtime), I found that he'd spent his time throwing everything out of his crib.

When I say he threw everything out, I literally mean that that child was sitting on the crib sheet with just a few more items left. He knew he was in trouble when he saw me look from the floor and back to him. I snatched him out of that crib as fast as I could and sent him to work putting each and every item back where it came from. I played the part of drill sergeant meets football coach. It's a good role for me, in case you were wondering.

I was glad I had brought the camera with me to document the insanity I had expected to find. I certainly didn't expect to find all of his things on the floor, but I knew I'd be able to capture a temper tantrum in progress. After all, I didn't want him to grow up thinking he never gave me the slightest headache, and I wanted to be able to warn his future bride of the payback her children would be bringing into their lives.

On Tuesday, the weather was absolutely perfect. While I was at Bible Study, the nursery workers took Ty's class out to the playground where he was able to run around for over an hour. Then, as we were going to the car, I decided to let him play some more before we went home.

I was willing to wear that boy out to ensure a long enough nap that it would make up for Monday's episode.

It worked.

When he woke up, I was ready to throw him in the wagon so we could walk across the street and pick up Danny from the train station. He wasn't willing to give up his fireman pajamas for his regular clothes, so we walked across the street in the full fireman get-up.

It can't be the craziest thing people around here have ever seen, right?

Wednesday was a bit of a down day, although we did some shopping that morning. Taking two kids out to four stores with the double stroller always exhausts me. I was ready to crash when we got home, but I got it together and made it through without a nap.

On Thursday, our big event was Lydie's physical therapy appointment.

Well, I thought it was a physical therapy appointment. It turned out that it was more of the same evaluations, lots of paperwork, and a promise to call us if Lydie was accepted into the program.

That's the government, I tell ya.

Thankfully, she was accepted into the program, and we will return for a complete assessment this coming week. After that, the therapists will have 30 days to get her program started. We just hope she'll get some decent treatment before we have to move.

Later in the day Lydie went to a playdate with her friends and Mr. Fred helped me take a carload of stuff to the consignment sale drop-off.

I definitely slept well that night.

Friday was gym day for Tyler, a handyman appointment to fix our faucet, and a two-hour volunteer stint from hell at the consignment sale where I spent two hours of my life folding baby boy clothes and organizing a table from newborn through 18 months sizes. Yuck. There's a reason I never worked in retail.

Saturday was spent indoors for the most part because it was rainy and dreary and yucky outside. After I picked up my leftover consignment items, we enjoyed a yummy dinner at our favorite BBQ restaurant.

It was the perfect way to top off our week.

We have another full week ahead, and we are SO glad that warmer temperatures will return by mid-week. I scored a fabulous double jogging stroller at the consignment sale for $50, and I am anxious to get that baby on the road!

I'll post again just as soon as I can pry the laptop back out of my husband's hands...

I think folding baby clothes sounds delightful. Can you tell I don't get out much??? :-)

Hope the therapy moves faster than you think. It would be nice to see some real progress before you move.

And what a deal on the jogging stroller. I LOVE mine!

I would love to find a double jogging stroller--esp. for $50!!!

I'm with you on the folding clothes thing. Laundry is my least favorite chore around the house. That's why we end up with a bedroom full of clean, slightly folded clothes!

Lastly, how do you expect Ty to nap with all those toys in his crib??? Good gracious, he didn't have time to sleep; he was playing : )

Sounds like a busy and productive week. How did you do at the sale??
