Yesterday, nearly two and a half months after his second birthday, Tyler went in for his two year old well-baby appointment. As expected, it was totally uneventful. Now that we are at the bribery stage, I thoroughly explained everything that would happen at the appointment, told him there would be nothing to be afraid of, and promised to take him to buy a new fire chief hat after he was all done. IF he was good.
That boy was perfect. Not a hair was out of place the entire time. And, as soon as the doctor proclaimed him healthy, he jumped off the exam table and yelled, "I all done, Mommy. Fire chief hat now, peas."
Certainly, sweet guy. Coming right up. And, you know what? Why stop at one hat when we could buy two, and why not stop by the bargain books at the bookstore and buy a new truck book, emergency vehicle book, and some other car type book while we're in the neighborhood?
Over-indulged? Maybe. Endlessly loved? Definitely.
For the record, Ty weighed 32.6 pounds, and I have no idea what she said about his height except that it was a little over 35 inches. The doctor said he is in the 75th percentile for both height and weight and told me I was taking good care of him because his shots were all up to date. Is that all that it takes to qualify as being a good mother?
This morning we had our weekly Bible Study time at church. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, Ty starting hollering, "Swides! Swides, Mommy! Swides, PEAS!" He was desperate to get on that playground (which is one of the nicest playgrounds I've ever seen, by the way), so we negotiated that we should go check in with his teacher to see if his other friends could come too. They never went out to play during Bible Study time (which I'm sure he didn't even notice), so Krista and I took our kids out there afterwards. Thanks to several days of rain and clouds, my child came home with soaking wet blue jeans.
But, seriously, what are you supposed to say to that sweet "Swides, peas, Mommy" and those big, blue eyes? And, besides, lunch eats just as well with or without your pants on!

Big naps for all of us this afternoon gave us some extra energy to enjoy the sunshine before dinner. The wet weather has kept us from trying out the new tricycle and jogging stroller I bought at the consignment sale over the weekend, so today's sunshine and clear sky meant it was a great day to try out our new wheels.
Tyler is not so much understanding the pedaling process involved with his tricycle just yet, so we'll need quite a bit more practice on that skill. However, he and his sister were immediate experts at enjoying the smooth ride afforded by that jogging stroller. Lydie squealed and kicked the whole way around the block. I've never seen her so happy! Poor thing needs to get out more, I guess! Besides Tyler fussing at Lydie with his "No kicking, Wydie!" comments every now and then, he was just content to enjoy the scenery.
I am pumped to have that jogging stroller in my possession with spring rapidly approaching. We will be heading out for walks first thing in the morning, stopping by the park, and not coming home until lunch. I can't wait!
