Okoh~Watson Family Day

The original plan was to skip our Little Gym class and head to Sea World for a family day with the Okohs. Voke was already taking the week off, so we picked a day, Danny took off, and we were ready to go.

At least, that was the plan until Sunday night when I discovered that Sea World wasn't open daily yet. Only Thursdays through Sundays until the end of May. That meant, our planned Tuesday outing was a no-go. Fantastic.

So, we scrambled to make Plan B. And, it was an excellent plan. We had a wonderful day with the Okohs and were reminded once again of how much we're going to miss them when we move.

When we left our neighborhood on the way to The Little Gym, I immediately got tickled by this family's yard decor in light of the Swine Flu scare that has shut down schools and parks in our area for a couple of weeks. Those pigs are always there in honor of the Razorbacks, but the addition of the masks was just humor at its best!

We decided to go ahead and make our Little Gym class since the daddies never get to go. We had a great time! And, Ty and Kai got lots of attention in their matching outfits. Too cute!

After The Little Gym, we headed over to the San Antonio Children's Museum which I didn't even know existed. It was fabulous! We'll have to take Tyler there again before we move. It had plenty of age-appropriate things for the little ones, and Ty really enjoyed being able to roam at his leisure.

Note: He must have said "moo" about 18 million times when he saw this cow!

For Papa Joe's sake, we allowed Ty to play with the chicken house display. Luckily, he didn't stick around there too long, so the chicken-collecting gene may not have passed on. We're okay with that, and we love Papa Joe just the same.

The boys loved pushing the buttons, although I don't think they had much of an idea what was happening when they pushed them. Nonetheless, they pushed away!

The whole bottom floor of the museum is an actual grocery store area sponsored by the H.E.B. grocery store chain. I think Kai and Ty had more fun pushing around the shopping carts than anything else.

Once we had had enough of the museum, we walked over to the Riverwalk and had lunch. Unfortunately, we probably didn't pick the best restaurant, but the company was well-worth the mediocre food.

Here we are with Ty, who we later discovered was sucking down a chocolate milk that was five days passed the date on the carton. Nice. When Jamala mentioned it to the server, the manager came out with some lame reasoning about the "sell by" date being different than when it actually expires. I could have called "bull" a million times while he was pulling his PR stunt, but I decided to bite my tongue and just pray that Ty wouldn't get sick. So far, we're good.

After lunch, we went for a Riverboat ride. I'm glad we covered the boys' faces with sunscreen before we started the cruise because that sun was hot and it was beating down on us for sure.

Ty is still very confused about the different forms of transportation. Everything that flies in the sky gets a "zoom" from him, which is usually totally accurate. Anything larger than a car, however, (to include trucks, busses, trains, tractors, and boats) gets a "choo-choo." We're working on it.

After the boat ride, we retreated to the ice cream shop for some cool air and a little milkshake refreshment. Then, it was time to head home. Kai was asleep before we made it to the car, and Ty was out about five minutes into our ride home.

We had an awesome family day! Plan B was just terrific! Thanks, Okohs, for being such wonderful friends to us!
