Top 10 Reasons We Love Papa Joe

Today is Papa Joe's birthday! We won't tell you how old he is; we'll let you keep thinking that he never ages past 25.

In an effort to send Papa Joe the warmest possible birthday wishes, the Texas Watsons have compiled a top ten list of reasons we adore our Papa Joe.

10.) He has excellent fashion sense. When left to his own devices, he is able to put together some incredible, trend-setting outfits.

9.) He is an accomplished chef. He will be more than happy to make for you such delicacies as tuna and potato chip casserole and turkey leg soup. Plus, he can always find a way to make pickles go with anything.

8.) He loves to talk on the phone. He always wants to hear your voice, and he must get the last word--sometimes this can take a while.

7.) He could win the shopaholic Olympics. He will find a deal anywhere whether it's on something he needs or not. And, he can cover a whole mall in an hour flat.

6.) He is a bold visionary and pioneer- in the art of decorative chicken collecting. His children and grandchildren are destined to be rich someday from this extensive collection.

5.) He's an environmentalist. He successfully counteracts the negative effects of global warming by propagating numerous varieties of plants, shrubs, trees, and the occasional weed.

4.) He is a focused and determined photographer. As long as he can get the camera to work, he will not cease to try for the perfect picture. You must always be ready to strike a pose in his presence.

3.) He is a diligent educator. There is no baby's birth or out-of-town visitor that can stop him from teaching a class. His students will never see a "class cancelled" sign on his door.

2.) He is a world record setting yawner. When he gets in a car, he can yawn 15 times in five minutes. Counting said yawns gives Jennifer something to do on every outing with Papa Joe.

1.) He is the most wonderful father, father-in-law, and grandfather we could ever ask for. Papa Joe is a faithful, loving man who would give anything and everything he has to help those he loves. Even though we pick on him about all his little nuances, there is not one thing about Papa Joe that we would trade. He keeps us laughing and he keeps us guessing. He makes all of our lives more interesting just by knowing him. Most of all, he's the perfect earthly example of God's unconditional love for us. When Papa Joe loves you, you know it. For that, we are truly blessed.

Oh, and for the record, he'll take his salad with no cucumbers, extra tomatoes, and olives if you've got them. He'd also like to know all about Mexican food...what are tacos again? He loves to take trips to Laramie and might fly on an airplane if there's a really good reason to do so. And, he'll read or watch any Western you can find. His best move: sweeping Mama Janet off her feet--we are not sure what we'd do without her!

Happy Birthday, Papa Joe! We love you and wish you all the best!

Love,
Danny, Jenn, and Baby Ty

I always enjoyed teaching with your Papa Joe. And he once gave me a chicken for our coop. The chicken laid blue eggs...

I love the birthday message you wrote for daddy. The top 10 list brought back so many memories. I think I got the biggest laugh out of the tuna and potato chip casserole. Uncle Bubba rescued us that night with McDonalds.
Happy Birthday Daddy !!!
