Texas-Sized Reunion

Last week, a reunion one year in the making came to fruition.

We were blessed to spend some time with our dear friends from our church in Texas, Anthony and Cynthia Owens and their girls, and Jason and Heather Davis and their boys. We sure missed the Savage Family who made it to Florida but had to tend to a family illness unexpectedly.

The Owens' and Davis' stayed in the Pensacola area where most of Anthony's family is located. They were kind enough to drive over to Ft. Walton Beach to help us with moving tasks one afternoon, and we had dinner together that evening at Couch and Four (which is the first place we'll take you if you ever visit us...the steak, literally, melts in your mouth). Another night, we met them in Sandestin for dinner at Mitchell's (which was delicious, to say the least, but was meant to be an atmosphere for fine food and conversation--making about a hundred runs to the bathroom for diaper changes sort of spoils that mood). And, finally, we met them at Carpenter Park in Milton where we all (except for Danny Watson) shed our shoes and played in a creek like kids, and then ate lunch at Chick-fil-A where the actual kids continued their playing in the playroom while the adults caught up.

I can't tell you what good it did my heart to see those sweet faces that I love so much. I couldn't believe how much the kids had grown, and I was so excited to meet the Davis' new addition. It was the most special reunion I've ever attended.

Can't even wait until next year!!

Lydie was a big fan of the crab, spinach and artichoke dip at Mitchell's. It might be the one food, other than baby food, that she has actually swallowed in her life.

Jason didn't let this dessert scare him!

The kids enjoyed throwing pennies in the fountain outside Mitchell's.

They were looking at tadpoles, but Micah became interested in the tall, grassy stuff.

Lydie and me...that water was so cold and felt so good!

If only you could see what they looked like when we all met...
