Mess

This morning, as I was gathering and sorting laundry, the kids were in the living room watching Chuggington and digging through the toy box with a sort of gusto and energy that I often admire.

I went about my chores, as efficiently as possible, while my mind wandered in all directions. Things were peaceful for a few moments, so I savored the relative quiet.

The near silence was broken, however, when my very OCD son ran up to me, grabbed my leg, and spoke such angry, hurried gibberish that all I gathered was, "...Mommy.........Wydie.....jussa big mess.......Mommy.....mess.....hurry!"

Of course, he had me panicked wondering what on earth kind of mess could have been made in the eight minutes since I'd left them. And, if anything involves Lydie, I sort of panic a little more.

I quickly followed Tyler to the living room where he made a right turn down the hall and another right into the bathroom.

I almost didn't want to even look.

But, there in front of the toilet, sat the cutest little girl I'd ever seen with almost every bath toy we own strewn about around her.

I couldn't stop laughing.

Once I regained my composure and snapped a few photos, I hugged and kissed both of those babies like crazy. Ty, because he is just like me in that he hates a mess, doesn't want his hands dirty, and appreciates order almost to a fault. And, Lydie, because she's just the opposite of Ty and me. She's messy, loves to get dirty, and could care less about order and rhyme and reason. She's the carbon copy of her daddy in about a million ways, one of which is her carefree, "do as I please" mentality.

They keep me busy and give the time out wall a lot of company during the day, but those precious moments when I look at them and wonder how on earth I ever got lucky enough to have them in my life are moments I store up and treasure. They won't be this little for very long.

~Sigh~

The funniest thing about this last picture, to me, is the firetruck ball in the potty seat. How exactly that happened, I'll never know, but I'm betting Tyler wasn't as completely innocent as he acted!

Yeah; I don't think I could ever discipline that sweet girl. Matter of fact, I think I would just give up on that idea from the get go. She is FAR TOO CUTE.
