Bye-Bye

Summers usually mean swimming pools and vacations, but for many military families, it's a time for moving trucks and goodbyes.

We're in the throws of goodbyes now, and, man, I hate it.

We've already bid farewell to the Harts, but they'll be living about ten miles from where we're moving, so it wasn't to difficult to send them off.

This past week, however, we had to say goodbye to the Davis family. It almost broke my heart. In fact, I tried to sneak out of the restaurant without having to say goodbye; I thought that would be so much easier. But, I was unable to escape, and, with great hesitation and sadness, I hugged their necks and waved as they drove away.

Did I mention that my heart almost broke?

Heather and I, with the mighty hand of the Lord, were paired up as crafting buddies for Vacation Bible School last year. I needed a good friend at the time and so did she. We hit it off instantly, and she's been one of the biggest blessings on my life in the short amount of time I've been able to spend with her.

We both give lots of praise to God for our friendship, and I am thankful that it is a relationship that will stand the test of time. For now, they're off to upper, upper, upper New York state (where they could potentially freeze!), but I know we'll come across them again one day. In the meantime, we'll be keeping in touch and anxiously awaiting the arrival of their second baby at the end of this year.

To send them off, we had dinner Friday night at a local Brazilian restaurant. Wow. Lots of meat on skewers. It's quite an experience to dine there. But, the good company was the best part of the night.

Jason, Heather, and Micah: We'll miss you so much, but we are thankful to have been blessed by your friendship here in Texas. And, Heather, anytime you're in the mood to make your signature queso, please be sure I'm invited. Lots of love to y'all!

I'm not sure I'm qualified to be the mother of a daughter because I don't know what to do with all these bows. Poor Lydie.

Sarah Faith (2.5 months) wasn't too happy about being left out of the steak-eating festivities.

Julie is the official baby lady. She always has one of our babies in her arms (here, it's Lydie) because her "babies" are going into 5th and 9th grades now.

Heather talks with Danny and Ty. Ty yells, "CHEESE!"

This is how your meat is served...on a skewer. And, it keeps coming--even if you've turned your card to red and said stop. My recommendation is the bottom sirloin. Holy deliciousness.

Mrs. Gretchen shared a lollipop with Ty, which was excellent because it took a while to sort out the bills and get out of there. That lollipop was the perfect entertainment!

This is just Lydie on Saturday night before her bath. No special reason. We just think she's cute. Doesn't she look a lot like her daddy??

Gosh, she does look a lot like Danny. Especially in that picture. Who knew he would have been such a cute baby girl?

Saying goodbye is sad, but moving is exciting. Can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for the Watsons in DC!

I know you are sad to be leaving TX, but DC will be lots of fun for you...I'm super excited because airfare from ATL to DC is really reasonable! : )

Great thing about blessings and friends -- they are always with you in your heart.

Love the pictures of Ty and Lydie. I have a pic of Ty on my fridge, and my Daddy asked who it was yesterday, He said, "That young man looks wise beyond his years." So cute!

Hope we'll be here when you pass through on the way to DC, but probably won't be. I'll be thinking about you a lot. XOXO
