Garbage Man

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos to prove this story true, so you'll have to take my word (well, Danny's word) for it!! But, it's just too good not to share, and it's something I want for the record books twenty years from now!

I was gone almost all day at a youth leader training, and, when I got home, I felt as if I'd been hit by a train. So, I wasn't with my boys too much today, and I really missed them.

Especially when Danny told me what he caught Tyler doing this morning.

Our little guy has long been a fan of the garbage can and recycling bin in our kitchen. He even earned himself a reputation for being a garbage man at church where, once he learned to crawl, they couldn't keep him away from the trash can in the nursery. As I've told you before, many items that have been put in the recycling bin have often reappeared in other locations in our home thanks to some chubby baby hands.

Well, today, Tyler took it to a whole new level.

Danny was cleaning up the kitchen after one of their meals, and before he threw some half-eaten food in the garbage, something caught his eye. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that six of the magnet pieces to Ty's "Bubble Wash" refrigerator toy were right on top of the heap of trash along with one of the balls from some other toy. Hmmmmm, wonder how those got in there??

Later, we caught him in the act as he was trying to throw away more of his toys. Obviously, he's too young to have any comprehension of the fact that the contents of the trash can leaves our house and never returns. Honestly, I think he thinks he's putting his toys away because at The Little Gym, the balls they play with are stored in a plastic trash can and the kids are encouraged to put them away when they are finished. That's my theory, anyway.

Regardless, I find this completely and totally hilarious. Especially when you consider the all-out search we've been on for the remote control to our DVD player. I think we just learned where that one is...

And, our search has now switched to a locking, childproof trash can.

I SO wish I would have been here to take a picture of those toys in that trash can. Priceless!

Babies will be babies, I guess. We joke around here that there is no telling the things LL has thrown away.

The next thing he will do is throw things in the toilet. That is not near as cute.

I just looked at your countdown to baby...today the twins were born!! Crazy.
And I agree w/Julie...there is no telling what our kids have thrown away that we don't know!

Ha! We found one of Rody's toy phones in the trashcan yesterday- hilarious--we have to tape that thing closed to keep him out if it...must be a boy thing!
