Huntin' Eggs

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

I couldn't wait to take Tyler to an Easter Egg Hunt this year because he's old enough to really know what to do and have a good time doing it.

Unfortunately, I didn't find an Easter Egg Hunt worthy of any sort of praise.

First, we went to the Methodist church near our house. We were about three minutes late, and, by the time we arrived, the 0-2 year old group was almost completely finished hunting their eggs. In fact, there weren't actually any eggs left; only Hershey's chocolate covered marshmallow bunnies scattered about the lawn were left to retrieve. Nonetheless, we sent Ty out on the field to collect the bunnies in the shiny green wrappers.

He had a good time, but I just wasn't satisfied. There's something about going to an Easter Egg Hunt and not finding eggs that just doesn't settle well with me.

The only other egg hunts in town were at the local parks where you had to pay $7 per child to participate. Something about paying to hunt eggs didn't settle well with me, either, so all I could come up with was the Giant grocery store egg hunt.

Admittedly, pathetic, but I tried.

Giant did a really nice job, actually. They had a cookie decorating station set up in the bakery, and they held egg hunts and Easter basket raffles every hour. We didn't win the raffle, but we left with a colorfully decorated cookie and three eggs.

Along with the 852 chocolate bunnies we had already acquired, we decided to call it a day.

**Note: Lydie and her allergy-ridden self stayed home with Noni and Poppy. She was much happier not being toted all over town in search of eggs. Next year, however, she'll be mandated to participate in all the festivities.

That is strange, it has never crossed my mind to go out and find an Easter egg hunt. We always just do ours at home. Kai had a blast this year. It is so cool to actually see them participating.
