Gators!

In an effort to sideline some of the sadness I have been feeling lately, Danny and I took a trip down to the Alligator Park in Natchitoches, LA on Saturday, June 9th. As an ardent animal-lover, I figured this would be the type of trip that would boost my dragging spirits. I was absolutely right! Besides the 115 degree temperatures and the sweat pouring from every pore in my body, I had an awesome time. Danny even bought me a grape snow cone...my favorite! I'll let the pictures tell the story, so follow along!

Danny and I held a small gator...you see who got the head!

Danny is a good sport when I make him stand beside cheesy signs like this one!

This is the Cajun Queen boat that was used to feed the gators from at show time. Look at those things swarming to the boat...they know when it's time to eat!

They feed the gators raw chicken...and they clearly like it!

Lots of them jumped out of the water to retrieve their share of the chicken.

I thought this sign was hilarious!

I tend to attract the goats of the world (long story with a history dating back to the Knoxville law school days), and I think they're pretty darn cute. They knew I had food, so that helped them like me!

This goat was my favorite! He ran across the little goat yard to visit with me.

Danny tried to feed the smaller goats, but the big guys kept knocking the little ones out of the way...meanies.

Emus are probably the most hideous birds I've ever seen.

This little raccoon was Danny's favorite. He figured he'd just reach into the tube to retrieve his treats...smart guy!

I was sure to kiss this gator on the way out! The stuffed gator in my hand was purchased for Baby Watson since he/she went along, too.

Looks like you guys had fun and I'm glad it boosted your spirits! I wouldn't be caught on that little boat where that kid was feeding the gators...CRAZY!!!

I am deathly afraid of alligators, so that place wouldn't have worked for me. But you look happy! That's what matters.

I am also glad you got news at the doctor. So I'm still curious - what is your girl's name?

Looks like ya'll had a great time! I am loving that sign! I would like a replica made to hang in my office--I think that would be hilarious!

Carter,

Girl's name will be Ella Joy...Ella for my grandmother and Joy for, well, Joy.

I met a little girl over the weekend named Ella, and she was too cute. It quadruple confirmed that I love that name!

We're still playing with boys' names. You should see the research page Danny created last night...he is quite OCD!

Ella Joy is beautiful! We were the opposite. We knew Jeffrey would be Jeffrey before we were even engaged -- but it was tough on the girl's name. We finally decided on Lilly Katharine -- both paternal grandmother names. Or was it Katharine Lilly? Thank GOD Jeffrey was Jeffrey...
