Pool with Peyton & Puddle Jumping 101

I would bet money you couldn't have found two cuter babies at any pool in the world today than the two we had at ours.

Lydie and Peyton are mere hours apart in age, so, naturally, they have become fast friends during our time in Virginia. As always, it doesn't hurt a bit that I adore Peyton's mommy, which means the more time we get to hang out with them, the better!

Today we arranged a pool playdate for the girls. For the 45 minutes or so that they played in the water, we had a great time. They kicked and splashed and consumed pool water like a couple of dehydrated donkeys. Then, they both started indicating that they were exhausted, so we parted ways for naptime.

Peyton's mom reported that she slept for two hours once they returned home, and Lydie might have slept a tiny bit more than that before I had to wake her. Needless to say, if you want to wear 'em out, take 'em to the pool!

(more below)

While Lydie began napping and Ty finished napping this afternoon, I caught up on a little R&R poolside, by myself! I laid on that lounge chair like a toad on a log for over an hour before I really, really, really missed my people and became desperate for some toddler company. As if they could read my mind, Danny and Ty came walking through the poolhouse doors to play with me. Hooray!

Ty was coming to the pool to try out his new Puddle Jumper life jacket thingy that came highly recommended by numerous moms that I trust (which I didn't get a picture of because I was in the pool with him trying to show him how to kick his legs and spit out pool water simultaneously). They were totally right. That thing kept him afloat and gave him the independence that he needed to gain some confidence in the water. He had a ball.

And, then, the lifeguard blew the break whistle.

Talk about bursting a kid's bubble. That boy let the tears flow. He was so upset to have to leave the water. But, lo and behold, fifteen minutes later when the break was over, he declared himself ready to go home. Whatever you say, my child.

So far, my goal of taking both kids to the pool almost every day until we move is going well. So is my tan. I'm thinking this summer might turn out to be a win-win for everyone!!

**During the lifeguard's break, Ty went into total relaxation mode, which I can completely appreciate. He munched on the summer snacks of choice--veggie sticks and animal crackers--and just watched the world go by. Such a sweetie!**

Tyler looks like a little surfer dude in his trunks. Too cute.

Glad y'all are having fun soaking up the sun. And what a blessing that you got some alone pool time. You are the only stay-at-home mama I know who has round the clock help. You are one smart mama to have worked that out the way you did! :-)

I love the pool pictures. We are jealous. We have had thunderstorms every afternoon this week and haven't made it to the pool. Our pool is only open afternoons during the week until school gets out. Tyler and Lydie are getting so big. We hope we can see you soon.

Jennifer, what did you end up ordering for Ty? I need to get something for Addison before we go to Orlando.
