The Monday night Billy Bowlegs Pirate Parade was outstanding compared to its weekend festival counterpart. The atmosphere was festive but relaxed, and while it was a bit warm out, there was a decent enough breeze to keep things cooled off.
Ty and I took to clapping and yelling and we were rewarded with about twenty pounds of loot in the form of plastic bead necklaces. In fact, we could probably host our very own Mardi Gras float in New Orleans next year and have plenty of beads to go around.
Lydie, on the other hand, was totally taking it all in from Miss Heather's lap. That little girl never clapped, waved, smiled, or hollered, but her subtlety was paid off in the form of stuffed animals and fake roses. The girl is a charmer, I tell ya. She needs to be in the spotlight somewhere...
Before the parade, we ate dinner at Mary's Kitchen where we stuffed ourselves on home cooked deliciousness. After the parade, we cooled off by trying the new frozen yogurt place that is housed in the same shopping center. It definitely wasn't as good as the ones in Destin, but it was a cool way to end the night.
